Memorial day weekend.  Not much going on this weekend.  My wife and I spent the day yesterday working in the yard.  We planted some flowers and some herbs.  We also performed a few of the rituals of spring.  A prune here and a fertilize there.   The house looks very good this year considering we lived through Hurricane Sandy only a few months ago.  Since then we had the tree guys clean up the downed tree and take down several others that were nothing short of a miracle that they didn't come tumbling down.  We had a new fireplace insert installed and had it hard wired in.  We also had the electrical panel replaced so we could hook-up the generator directly through an interlock switch to the electrical panel.  We replaced the motion sensor light over the garage, repaved the driveway and several other small fixer upper jobs.  The funny thing about owning a home is that the list never seems to get any shorter.  There is always something else that needs to get done and never enough time, energy or money to get everything completed.  There comes a time when you just have to pause and try to enjoy the home as it is.  Accepting it will never be perfect.  I think we are close to that point.  I hope you all have a great holiday weekend.  Don't forget to pause and remember what the holiday is all about.  many brave men and women have sacrificed for us to have the freedoms that we do in the country.  Many serve in dangerous places so we can throw a burger on the BBQ and watch the Indy 500.  God Bless them and keep them safe.
